The Beginnings of WZPOW Kwidzyn

Warmińskie Zakłady Przetwórstwa Owocowo-Warzywnego was founded in 1934 in the region of Powiśle, where one may find great climate and agriculture conditions suitable for agricultural production directed to the growth of vegetables and fruit. Over 50 years WZPOW in Kwidzyn in the organization of a state-owned company was a place both where the crops were sold by an enormous group of manufacturers and the biggest agricultural and food processing company in this region.

The company is situated in Kwidzyn in the Pomerania Province in the distance of 100 km from the seaports in Gdańsk and Gdynia. The company is the greatest in Poland manufacturer of green peas, which is its main product amongst frozen and tinned assortment. The high quality, flavour and continuously improved cutting-edge technologies guarantee constant demand and the appreciation of the consumers in Poland and abroad.

In the course of time the range of products manufactured by WZPOW has changed dependently on the demand of the market and the preferences of the recipients. Since its foundation, the company deals with the production of tinned fruit and vegetables and wine. However, at the beginning of the 90s, when the refrigerating plant was built, WZPOW expanded its activity with the production of frozen vegetables and fruit, which is now the fundamental element of WZPOW success. The company successively withdraws from the sales of tinned products for the benefit of the fast development of the frozen product market. In 1998 the Wine Company was sold.

In 2005 WZPOW KWIDZYN became the property of Pamapol S.A by its buyout of majority stake. Due to that operation the company will restructure the plant in Kwidzyn and provide it with modern machines and technologies.
